My friend just sent me this awesome quote
"Somewhere we know that without a lonely place our lives are in danger. Somewhere we know that without silence words lose their meaning, that without listening speaking no longer heals, without distance closeness cannot cure. Somewhere we know that without a lonely place our actions quickly become empty gestures. The careful balance between silence and words, withdrawal and involvement, distance and closeness, solitude and community forms the basis of the Christian life and should therefore be the subjects of our most personal attention. Let us therefore look somewhat closer, first at our life in action, and at our life in solitude." -Henri Nouwen

Sacrifice
I was just thinking the other day, how much of ourselves are we actually willing to sacrifice for others? We have different levels depending on the person, but what is our actual limit? Jesus sacrificed Himself for the least of these. For the worst of these. And by sacrifice I mean he let the very people He was trying to save, beat Him, strip Him, ridicule Him, Spit on Him, and finally nail Him naked on a tree between two criminals for all to see. Are we willing to do that for someone? Anyone? Everyone? Would any of us truly be willing to do something similar for another person? I realized that is a hard question. I am not sure how much I would be willing to go through. But Jesus calls us to be as He was. And that would include being willing to sacrifice ourselves for others. Now that will take different forms for each of us, but I think my original question still stands; How much of ourselves are we actually willing to sacrifice for others?

technology
technology is incredible these days. It is kind of crazy what you can do with a devise that fits in your pocket. But it is a real pain when it does not work properly or at least like you expect it to. For example when our computer is running very slow while on the internet. E-mail is supposed to make communication so much faster; but when it is running slow it is not only slow but also frustrating. I am currently trying to send a newsletter, it has timed out on me twice already. Now i have a "high speed" internet connection mind you. I have been working on it for two hours already and i am not even half way. I neglected to save both times. Why? you may ask... Autosave, i figured i did not need to worry about it. Autosave did not help me as i was working in an area that it did not support. I even typed it all out a couple days ago, so yes all i am trying to do is to insert it into the template and add some photos. I still have the ability to write much faster then i can type. In the time it has taken me to put together this newsletter i could quite literally hand written it out cut a pasted photos and sent it to be photocopied. So that is where my question comes in, does technology really make our lives more easy? Or does it just make us feel that our lives are more easy so that we can fill our schedules with more stuff. In the time i was waiting for pages to load I did a load of laundry, and typed this whole blog, on my phone. So now two and a half hours later i just sent the newsletter. Ah... Technology.

Turkey
I would like to eat turkey while In Turkey.
But actually I just realized today that I would like to go to Turkey. I think it would be a great place to take pictures.

Old self
What is it about the old self that we find so hard to leave behind? why do we go back to the dead man over and over? We need to claim our Freedom from it. Freedom to live without the dead man.

what do zoo animals think of us?
I wonder if zoo animals think we are boring. Do they look at us a wonder why we just walk by and look at them for a bit. Do they think that is all that we do? Do they care? Or are we just their random bit of entertainment? Are we just something to look different for them to look at for a while?
